What third-party testing means for peptides

Short answer: third-party testing means a laboratory that is independent of the seller checks a batch and reports the results. Veridian sends each batch for third-party testing and posts a COA per batch, so you can check the report for the exact vial you receive.

Research use only. Products are sold for laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.

What is third-party testing?

A "third party" is someone other than the buyer and the seller. In third-party testing, an outside laboratory receives a sample, runs its tests and issues a report.

Because the lab is separate from the seller, the report is not just the seller's own claim about the product.

Why does independent testing matter when comparing peptide sellers?

Peptides look alike: a vial of white powder. You cannot judge what is inside by looking at it. An independent report is one of the few ways a buyer can see evidence about a product before using it in research.

When you compare sellers, it helps to ask three plain questions:

  1. Is there a report for each batch, or one old report for everything?
  2. Can I match the report to the batch code printed on my vial?
  3. Can I look the report up myself, any time, without asking?

What does "COA per batch" mean?

A batch is one production run of a product. A COA per batch means each new batch gets its own Certificate of Analysis, instead of reusing a report from an earlier batch.

At Veridian, every product has a COA per batch. The batch code on your label links your vial to its report.

How do I find the report for my Veridian vial?

Look for the batch code on the vial label. Then open the COA lookup page and type the code exactly as printed. The batch code, product and size on the report should match your label. If they do not, contact us before using that vial.

What kinds of tests can a lab run?

As general background, labs commonly use separation methods such as HPLC to estimate purity and methods such as mass spectrometry to help confirm identity. Our peptide purity guide explains these in plain terms. The tests reported for a Veridian batch are the ones listed on that batch's COA.

Third-party testing questions

Is third-party tested the same as a seller testing its own products?

No. Third-party testing is done by a laboratory independent of the seller. In-house testing is done by the seller itself.

Does every Veridian batch have a COA?

Yes. Every product has a COA per batch, which you can look up with the batch code on your label.

What if my batch code does not show a report?

Check that you typed the code exactly as printed. If it still does not show, contact us before using that vial in research.
